Autumn Time on Lake Iseo

The end of Summer is always a little sad but never fear Autumn is still a great time of the year especially if you decide to spend it on Lake Iseo. Even though it’s too early for winter sports you will find the perfect weather on Lake Iseo, this is the lake where you will discover the magic of this season and you will never want to leave.

Lake Iseo offers all kinds of activities for the whole family, for groups of friends and is the ideal lake for a romantic getaway.

If you like outdoor activities why not try a bike tour around Monte Isola, the largest inhabited lake island in Europe that lies in the middle of Lake Iseo and was voted one of Europes top destinations to visit. It’s natural beauty and nature are captivating, if you are really feeling adventurous then why not attempt the walk to the top of the island to visit the sanctuary of the Madonna della Ceriol or for those less athletic you can just hop on the local bus which will take you straight there!
A hiking tour around Lake Iseo is also a must do activity you will see some amazing sights and landscapes and beautiful towns and villages such as Sarnico, Predore, Riva di Solto, Iseo, Sulzano, Marone and Lovere. Some of the most unusual sights you will see is in the area of Zone where nature has created the Piramids, some creative rock formations on the backdrop of the lake.

If you are a fan of travel then why not visit the “Big Benches” a funny project by an American artist Chris Bangle, enormous sized benches scattered along different towns around different lake around Italy, on Lake Iseo there is one between the towns of Fonteno and Riva di Solto where you have one of the best seats in the house to view both the lake and the surrounding mountains.Twice monthly on a Sunday in the town of Iseo you can enjoy the vintage markets which have a mixture of local handmade wares, vintage clothes, bags and jewelry and many other items to choose from. Every Friday Iseo is invaded by the weekly market which extends around the whole of the piazza from the train station to the lake, which has something for everyone……Italy is known all around the world for its food and its traditional product this region is no exception. “Treno dei Sapori” is a special orange train and the most original way to taste the best food and a selection of regional wines whilst enjoying the great landscapes of Lake Iseo and the Franciacorta region.

Culture and art in Italy are also very important in the town of “Lovere”, from July until the end of September there is an amazing projection show of the most famous pieces of romantic art like “The kiss” of Hayez and “Cupid and Psyche”of Antonio Canova on the historical buildings of the village like the amphitheatre in Piazza Tredici Martiri , Accademy Tadini, Piazza Garibaldi and the “promenade” in honour of Lady Wortley Montagu that in 1749 said “Lovere is the most romantic place I’ve ever seen in my life”. The artistic lighting creates a magical atmosphere in which the projected images take on new life and dimensions transmitting new perspectives and views of the village. If in the evening you would like to hear some good music during this season there is also a good selection of concerts, especially during the musical festival “Onde musicali” where you will hear Classical, jazz and chamber music with over 60 concerts this music festival represents a a great opportunity to discover the lake. Its rich program alternates the names of great artists with those of the most promising interpreters of the new international music scene. Autumn on Lake Iseo has something for everyone so come and discover this beautiful region.
